The writer of Dune has been recruited for the Gears of War film

The world of cinema is not finished taking an interest in the biggest licenses of the gaming industry. Thus, Netflix will produce a film based on the Gears of War franchise. Announced last November, the feature film is just one of the many projects that the SVoD giant will carry out around the saga. The development studio, The Coalition, will take part in the production.

But before that, the technical team is starting to take shape, as Jon Spaihts has been recruited as the screenwriter. He co-wrote Denis Villeneuve's Dune and worked on other blockbusters such as Doctor Strange, Passengers, and Prometheus.
