Xbox didn't want to sign exclusivity contracts for games like Destiny and Guitar Hero

During a recent conference at PAX West, Phil Spencer, President of Microsoft Gaming, took a trip down memory lane and went back over some of the decisions he has made during his career.

The businessman acknowledged a number of strategic errors in terms of exclusives. Indeed, Spencer explained that he didn't go for franchises such as Destiny and Guitar Hero, which could have become Xbox exclusives.

The head of the American giant's gaming division stated that Destiny didn't really get him when he first saw it. The same goes for Guitar Hero and the whole shtick of making "plastic guitars" and "plug (them) into consoles". in the end, Activision went for both licenses.
