Nintendo places Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom outside the established Zelda chronology

During its Nintendo Live 2024 event in Sydney, the Japanese company revealed an interesting tidbit about The Legend of Zelda franchise.
Acclaimed by critic and fans alike, both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom aren't included in the franchise's established timelines. The chronology is divided into two branches, one in which the hero is triumphant and one in which is defeated.
The two Switch entries take place in their own universe and with their own timeline.
