Arrowhead apologizes for the changes made to Helldivers 2 in the latest update
, by Thibaut
This past August 6, Helldivers 2 got its biggest update yet, called Escalation of Freedom. Sadly, it seems the changes weren't to the taste of everyone, specially when it comes to balance.
Several weapons, including the flamethrower, have seen their damage revised downwards. The community let their voices heard soon enough, and the devs have been forced to respond on Reddit.
Director Mikael Eriksson wanted to be transparent, and has acknowledged the mistakes made.
"In short, we didn’t hit our target with the latest update. Some things we just didn’t get right - and other more fundamental inconsistencies in our approach to game balance and game direction. All of that is on us and we are going to own that. As many of you have pointed out, and we agree, what matters most now is action. Not talk."
Following this, Eriksson revealed a roadmap of what's to come over the next 60 days. It includes a thorough re-examination of the balancing process, changes to fire damage, adjustments to gameplay and to the way in which the main weapons are designed.
Arrowhead also wants to prioritize fixing major bugs and improving the game's overall performance.
