The games I'm most looking forward to in the second half of 2024

As we put the first half of 2024 behind us, it's a great time to take a look at what's in store ahead of us for the rest of the year with what I'm most looking forward to. I've highlighted a few titles that make me shudder in anticipation, focusing on five games that I place at the top of the list. I'm curious about yours too, so don't hesitate to tell me all about them in the comments below!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl (September 5, 2024)

Do you know of the first entry from back in 2007, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl? I very much do. It must be said that it won over the hearts of the specialized press and fans alike when it was released.

So, despite all the troubles surrounding this second entry, I can't wait to see if they get me to relive the same feeling as the first game, that same anguish and immersion, that demanding gameplay. It's reassuring to know that the project is in the hands of the original team. We can only hope that they still got it, and that the heart of the license is still beating within them.

Silent Hill 2 Remake (October 8, 2024)

Now now, don't panic. I'm well aware of the overall negative buzz surrrounding the game, not least because of the gameplay footage, which can't be frightening all right, though not in the correct way.

However, even if I'm not really that confident in Bloober Team, Silent Hill 2 remains my favorite horror game since I discovered it on PlayStation 2. It was quite something, and left a lasting impression in dear old me, such is the power of Konami's work. Just imagining myself right into the game fills me with joy. The game isn't that far off, it's coming out in early October after all. We'll see then how it all pans out in the end.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero (October 11, 2024)

You can't imagine the wave of nostalgia I felt with the reveal of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. I remember playing the excellent Dragon Ball: Budokai Tenkaichi games back in the day with friends and family alike.

From the immersive combat to the gargantuan quantity of content, everything was there to deliver some great games. This new entry seems to follow that same path, and that's what I'm most excited about, having long left behind the IP in its videogame form. It's certainly a game I'll be picking up as soon as it's released, and one that will give me many sleepless nights, be it alone or with friends.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

As much as I enjoy a good film once in a while, I have no particular attachment to the Indiana Jones license. But when I see the talented teams from MachineGames at the helm, I can't help but be excited and impatient to see more.

The first images show that they are trying their best to represent the universe, and it looks absolutely epic, despite the gameplay being so-so and far from revolutionary. However, I can't wait to get into Indy's shoes and fight some Nazis.

The Wolf Among Us 2 (2024)

More than ten years after the (excellent) frist game, we're finally getting a sequel to Telltale Games' title based on the Fables comic book. I'm talking, of course, about The Wolf Among Us 2.

I just can't wait to dive into a story as strong as it is enjoyable, as well as making choices that have a real impact on the story. I'm also hoping that the art direction is as high-quality as ever. Although we don't have an exact release date just yet, it's still scheduled for 2024, so fingers crossed for now.

This selection is based on my expectations and, let's be honest, it hinges a lot on a great deal of nostalgia, but there's something for everyone. Proof that there's still plenty of variety in video games!
