Arkane Lyon's Creative Director speaks out about Arkane Austin's closure

Tuesday May 7 will go down in history as a very sad day for Bethesda Softworks. Microsoft has announced that they will be closing four studios run by the publisher, including Arkane Austin. The latter is responible for the excellent Prey and the much-maligned Redfall.

Of course, this wasn't to the liking of Dinga Bakaba, Arkane Lyon's creative director, to whom we owe Deathloop and is currently working on Marvel's Blade. In a thread posted on X.com, the French dev spoke on the subject.

"This is absolutely terrible. Permission to be human : to any executive reading this, friendly reminder that video games are an entertainment/cultural industry, and your business as a corporation is to take care of your artists/entertainers and help them create value for you."

"Don't throw us into gold fever gambits, don't use us as strawmen for miscalculations/blind spots, don't make our work environments darwinist jungles. You say we make you proud when we make a good game. Make us proud when times are tough. We know you can, we seen it before."
