Embracer CEO takes responsibility for his company's recent failures
, by Thibaut
It's not every day that the head of a major company takes responsibility for his or her recent failures. But that's exactly what Lars Wingefors, boss of the Embracer Group, has done after several waves of redundancies and the closure and sale of multitude of studios.
On the eve of Embracer's separation into three separate entities, Wingefors looks back on a difficult few months. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Wingefors took responsibility for his mistakes.
"As a leader and an owner, sometimes you need to take the blame and you need to be humble about if you've made mistakes and if you could have done something differently."
"I'm sure I deserve a lot of criticism, but I don't think my team or companies deserve all the criticism. I could take a lot of that blame myself. But ultimately I need to believe in the mission we set out and that is still valid, and we are now enabling that by doing this [new] structure."
