Visions of Mana won't have coop at release

When Secret of Mana was released in 1993, players could join forces with friends to play and explore the world together with local multiplayer. This feature, which quickly became one of the staples of the franchise, won't be coming back in the next entry.

Square Enix has confirmed that when Visions of Mana launches this summer, the game will only be playable solo. Producer Masaru Oyamada stated that adding multiplayer would have too heavy an impact on "the overall field design, and also the tempo" of the title. ` However, Oyamada also expressed his love for Secret of Mana's coop mode, and hopes to "implement features like that in the future". It remains to be seen whether this will come with an update, or whether we'll have to wait for a sequel to Visions of Mana.
