EA Motive would have liked to make a new Dead Space, not a remake of the second one
, by Thibaut
There's quite a lot of controversy surrounding the possible cancellation of the Dead Space 2 remake, which was stated by insider Jeff Grubb first and later denied by an Electronic Arts spokeperson. Now, it's Bloomber journalist Jason Schreier's turn to chime in.
According to Schreier, the publisher chose to deny the report because Dead Space 2 Remake never actually existed. Instead, Schreier reports that EA Motive wanted to create a new entry. The studio even explored different ideas in early 2023, but none of them were given the green light by EA.
Thus, the Dead Space franchise seems to be buried once again, at least temporarily, by the American firm. For its part, EA Motive will focus on Iron Man and Battlefield.
