, by Thibaut
Epic Games has announced a change in its pricing policy for its in-house engine. From now on, the American company will charge for Unreal Engine to companies that use it to develop apps outside video games.
Devs will still be able to use it free of charge until the game reaches one million dollars in gross revenue, and at that point, Epic will keep 5% of the revenues.
Companies in sectors other than video games will have to go for a paid license if the generate more than $1 million in revenue per year, at which point the cost of Unreal Engine will be set at $1850 for each employee using it.
