Several developers express their fears about the future of Apple Arcade
, by Thibaut
What if Apple Arcade were to disappear? It's a pessimistic vision that could unfortunately become reality, if we are to believe the testimonies gathered by Mobilegamer.biz. Indeed, various mobile game creators are sounding the alarm about the current state of Apple's service, which will launch in 2019.
According to this information, the American giant has made drastic changes to its policy since the end of 2020. Bonus payments per game are said to have dropped considerably. So much so that this sum could still "decrease until it's pennies". The profitability of titles sold would then no longer necessarily be assured.
What's more, Apple would have cancelled "a shitload of projects and pissed off a lot of people" after the service was restarted in the spring of 2021. Fewer and fewer original games would get the green light, as the firm would prefer to rely on existing popular licenses.
Finally, one developer goes so far as to predict the outright end of Apple Arcade, evoking "the smell of death" around the platform's future.
