Nintendo plummets on the stock market following rumors of a "Switch 2" release in early 2025
, by Thibaut
According to information relayed by journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe and then by the VGC website, Nintendo's next console will not launch until the first quarter of 2025. There was an internal delay, as the machine was most likely expected by the end of 2024.
As Bloomberg shows, this rumor has had an impact on Nintendo's stock market health. The brand's share price has fallen by up to 8.8% in recent hours. At the time of writing, the average fall was 5.84%, which represents a value of ¥8,356 (€51.71). The share price had reached an all-time high last week, at ¥8,874 (€54.92).
According to Mio Kato, an analyst at LightStream Research, the decline could continue if the console's supposed delay is indeed due to the low number of exclusive games offered at launch.
