The creator of Suikoden and Eiyuden Chronicle, Yoshitaka Murayama, has passed away

Yoshitaka Murayama's name may not be well known to the general public in the West, but he was behind one of the world's best-loved JRPG sagas. This, of course, is Suikoden, launched in 1995 on PlayStation.

Today we learn of the Japanese creator's death at the age of 55 "due to complications with an ongoing illness". The Rabbit & Bear studio has announced his death back on February 6.

After a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2020, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, a spiritual sequel to Suikoden, is due to be released on April 23, 2024. Unfortunately, the launch will take place without Murayama, who was the scriptwriter.
