Joe Blackburn, Destiny 2's game director, has announced that he will soon be leaving Bungie.

There's bad news for Bungie. On X.com, Joe Blackburn, currently game director on Destiny 2, has confirmed that he will soon be leaving the company.

In February, Destiny 2's "Final Shape" expansion will reach a critical phase of development called "End-to-End playtest". This consists of a series of in-house playtests over several days. It's a way of gathering as many opinions as possible and preparing for the fine-tuning phase before the launch scheduled for this summer.

Joe Blackburn has made it clear that he will be leaving the studio at the end of this process. Tyson Green, who helped create Halo's PvP, will take over the role of game director on Destiny 2.
