The live-action series based on Final Fantasy XIV has been officially cancelled

Some time ago, a TV series based on Final Fantasy XIV was announced as part of a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and Hivemind. The latter is notably responsible for The Witcher on Netflix.

On X.com, Hivemind co-founder Dinesh Shamdasani confirmed that the live-action adaptation is dead and buried due to the colossal scale of the project, which would require an inordinate budget to see the light of day. The risk would simply be too great.
