Discord to lay off 17% of its staff, i.e. 170 employees

The year 2023 had already been quite difficult in this respect, but it looks like the redundancies will keep on coming in 2024. Discord has just announced that it will be laying off 17% of its staff in order to bring more agility to the company, and it will be very soon.
According to The Verge, which obtained an internal memo, this represents around 170 people in various departments of the company. Discord CEO Jason Citron concludes the note by saying:
"This is a decision we did not take lightly, but it is one that we have conviction in to better serve our users, our business and our mission over the long term."
