Microsoft now calls CMA's attempt to block Activision Blizzard takeover "fair"
, by Thibaut
During its lengthy merger process with Activision Blizzard, Microsoft came up against a rather rigid CMA. The British authority had blocked the takeover and only recently reviewed its ruling (https://news.instant-gaming.com/en/articles/3173-uk-cma-approves-microsoft-s-takeover-of-activision).
To achieve this, the American giant had to make certain concessions. In a recent interview with the BBC, Brad Smith, Microsoft's Chairman, spoke of the long negotiations. The man in question expressed his understanding of the CMA's past position.
"I think the CMA vindicated its position but still created a pragmatic path forward for innovation and investment. I think that is good for everyone."
Smith added that the entity had been "tough and fair" throughout the discussions.
