Starfield developer thinks gamers are "disconnected" from the realities of game development
, by Thibaut
Since its launch last September, Starfield has received a great deal of criticism from gamers. So much so, in fact, that some went so far as to mock the game when it failed to win any awards at the Game Awards.
Emil Pagliarulo, studio design director at Bethesda Game Studios, set the record straight in a long thread on X.com. Pagliarulo doesn't mince his words, pointing the finger at some gamers who are "disconnected from the realities of game development".
However, Pagliarulo doesn't refer to fans for their easy criticism. He simply points out that no developer works to make a bad game. For him, while almost all employees in this industry are talented, they are sometimes faced with decisions that can have repercussions on the final quality of the product.
Departures, difficult deadlines and creative choices can all have major consequences. For Emil Pagliarulo, while a game can be openly criticized, it's important to respect those who worked on it.
