A new PS5 model with lower power consumption and less heating is on the way
, by Thibaut
Even though everyone (or almost everyone) is waiting for official news of a more compact PS5 and a Pro version, Sony is likely to offer another model first.
According to Zuby_Tech, the Japanese manufacturer will incorporate two technological improvements in this next model, starting with a 5nm APU instead of the 7nm one present in the version marketed since 2020. This will deliver faster computing power, lower energy consumption and less heat build-up.
What's more, unlike the current PS5, the new one will have no liquid metal on its processor with the aim to keep the temperature down when the console is on.
Last but not least, the design of this PS5 will remain similar to the one we already know.
