Helen Chiang, the former XBOX COO, denies having been fired for " a policy violation"

Last month, Helen Chiang, who had served as Xbox’s chief operating officer since July, suddenly left the company. Subsequently, rumors circulated that she had been fired "for a policy violating."

In a lengthy post on LinkedIn, Chiang herself refuted these claims. Among other points, she stated that she had not disclosed any confidential company information to the press. She also explained that she had no intention of joining a competitor. Furthermore, the former COO asserts that she did not engage in any acts of “discrimination, intimidation, harassment, insider trading, embezzlement, or other fraudulent activities.”

However, Helen Chiang still appears to be taking aim at Asha Sharma, the president of Xbox, whom she paraphrases at the beginning of her statement with the quote: “ Clarity is kindness.”

"I believe in fairness, accountability, and holding ourselves to the standards we expect of others. Those standards only mean something when they’re applied consistently. I have serious concerns about how they were applied in my case, and I believe those concerns deserve to be taken seriously.

I share this because I don’t want my departure reduced to an inaccurate story about incompetence, ambition for the next big job, or a Nelson-level scandal. My story is about staying true to your core values, especially when it is hard. That’s the legacy I hope to leave behind."

In any case, Chiang spent 27 years at Microsoft and concluded his lengthy message by stating that "this is not how I ever imagined my story here would end."
