, by Thibaut
The end of this year is shaping up to be very eventful for Dune: Awakening. Funcom is getting several updates ready, starting with a free expansion called Blood and Ice. It will arrive on December 1, 2026, on consoles and PC.
Players will be able to explore the Polar Abyss in the frozen north of Arrakis. Two distinct biomes will be accessible, featuring new resources and never-before-seen activities. The expansion will focus on ground-based survival, with an emphasis on movement, temperature management, and combat. All of this will be delivered through 35 additional hours of gameplay.
Among other new features planned by the developers are an offline single-player mode starting in November, as well as character cloning and full cross-platform play in January 2027. Next year, the developers will also introduce new locations, mechanics, and free content. In-game events with rewards will be on the agenda.
Finally, a store featuring optional cosmetic items is now available. It includes outfits, vehicle skins, and other ways to customize your base. The selection of items will be constantly updated, featuring, for example, looks inspired by the Dune movies.
