We’re in a period of great change in the video game industry. Artificial intelligence is disrupting development processes, legendary studios are closing, and the business practices of certain manufacturers are infuriating gamers.
As a result, several communities have decided to take matters into their own hands! This is particularly true among modders who want to port retro games originally released on consoles to PC. To fill this gap, here's RecompLauncher.
This project brings together more than 200 recompiled games within a single application for Windows, Linux, and macOS. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Bloodborne, Sonic Unleashed, Gears of War 2, and Metroid Prime are among the titles included. This isn’t a store, but rather a repository of projects that includes tools allowing users to run the games on their computers. The titles have been reverse-engineered and recompiled to run natively on PC or Mac.
The launcher is currently available in beta.
