Electronic Arts will keep working on Iron Man and Star Wars Jedi 3, and is going all out on sports games

In addition to announcing the closure of BioWare and the layoff of 400 employees, Electronic Arts discussed its future in a lengthy statement. David Tinson, EA’s chief operating officer, and Cam Weber, studio head, spoke on the matter.

While the next Mass Effect will not be released, other projects have been announced or reconfirmed. This includes Marvel’s Iron Man and Star Wars Jedi 3, which are still in development. In addition, Respawn Entertainment and DICE will partner “on a joint project that will allow us to achieve this goal.” EA also plans to continue investing in Apex Legends and Battlefield.

Furthermore, the EA Sports franchises will be strengthened. Two new titles are in development, including one called Project Gridiron, which is an " brand-new, social-first open-world experience for our American Football team". Teased earlier this week, the next Fight Night is in pre-production.

Regarding the lifestyle division, the publisher plans to focus on the long-term potential of The Sims and skate. For The Sims, efforts will be focused on “Project Evergreen.” However, production on “Project Lotus” has been halted. Finally, the team in charge of skate will be downsized to "deliver on a very clear roadmap for our community."
