A group of private equity firms reportedly considered buying XBOX for more than $100 billion

XBOX being sold is one of the oldest pipe dreams in the videogame industry. With every crisis, rumors circulate about a hypothetical separation between Microsoft and its gaming division. However, this industry gossip had turned into a real possibility in recent months.
Before Asha Sharma, the CEO of XBOX, opted instead for a massive restructuring of the company, a takeover of the brand was apparently on the table. This was reported by The Information in an article published this week.
We’ve learned that a group of private equity firms was interested in such an offer. They had reportedly valued Xbox at between $100 billion and $150 billion. The discussions were apparently only exploratory and are said to have been rather brief. Ultimately, no negotiations took place.
