An XBOX executive praises AI, then disappears from X
, by Thibaut
There's been a little controversy with XBOX in recent days. On X, a man named Brandon Stirrup, a senior corporate strategy executive at Microsoft, spoke out about artificial intelligence, and what he had to say clearly didn’t go over well with internet users.
According to him, the video game industry is currently the only one "pretending not to use AI." He even went so far as to claim that developers who refuse to use this technology "should not be in business." Stirrup had further praise for the technology, stating that tasks that used to take an entire team weeks to complete can now be finished in just a weekend.
"Everything you plan for will be superseded. You’re planning for a fake future. Gaming is the only industry pretending to not use AI. Gaming is the only industry slow-walking the transition because users have negative sentiment. Everyone else accepts reality. If you’re a game developer refusing to believe that AI has a place in your future, you should not be in the business of being a business."
He added that Microsoft is already making extensive use of AI in game development and that people need to learn to live with it. What's more, Brandon Stirrup pointed out that he could be fired for telling "the truth" on social media. A few hours later, his X account mysteriously disappeared without any explanation. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is still employed at Microsoft.
