Last December, Vince Zampella, who was then director of Battlefield, died in a terrible car accident at the age of 55. The American developer was also known for co-creating Call of Duty and co-founding the studio Infinity Ward.
Although he was fired by Activision in 2009 following the release of Modern Warfare 2, Zampella still got a small tribute in the franchise’s latest installment. As Geoff Keighley notes on X, Zampella is mentioned in the credits of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
During his career, he also co-founded Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Titanfall, Apex Legends, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and its sequel.
