The Cyberpunk 2077 movie won't follow the game's storyline

This October 8, Paramount Pictures confirmed a film adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077. Though produced in collaboration with CD Projekt RED, this feature film will seek to distance itself from the video game released in December 2020.
In an interview, Michal Nowakowski, co-CEO of the Polish studio, confirmed that the movie will not simply adapt the game’s story for the big screen.
"For now, we can only say that we have absolutely no intention of making a film adaptation of the game. We want to tell a story set in the Cyberpunk universe, but it won’t be a faithful adaptation of the game’s storyline."
Thus, we can look forward to a story set in the Cyberpunk universe, but one that doesn’t necessarily feature the characters and events we’re already familiar with.
