RuneScape Reignited canceled less than two weeks after its announcement

Announced on October 3 during RuneFest, RuneScape Reignited was set to launch on December 2. The project was intended to serve as a fresh start for players, featuring a separate subscription and distinct characters.

However, in the face of the outcry sparked by this announcement, Jagex ultimately decided to cancel RuneScape Reignited. Mod Ryan, the game director, issued a brief statement on the matter.

« Now I said on stage that we would not repeat the same mistakes of the past, and I truly stand by that. Considering this, we have made the decision to cancel Reignited. »

Note that the update scheduled for December 2, 2026, is still on track. It will include a 10-day free trial.
