Square Enix announces "extremely solid" sales for Final Fantasy XVI
, by Thibaut
Less than a week after its release, Final Fantasy XVI had already passed the 3 million copies sold worldwide. While Square Enix celebrated the success, some Internet users pointed the finger at weaker sales than Final Fantasy VII Remake and its 3.5 million units in four days.
In an interview with IGN, the Japanese publisher pointed out that the PS5 installed base worldwide currently stands at "only" 38 million consoles. Let's keep in mind that the remake of the seventh entry landed in 2020 on a PS4 that had sold over 110 million units.
Square Enix added that the 3 million sales of Final Fantasy XVI prove that "the attach rate for the game is considerably high" and that sales remain "extremely solid".
