CONTROL Resonant review: Remedy's latest game gets very high scores
, by Thibaut
Remedy Entertainment is about to release CONTROL Resonant on PS5, XBOX Series, and PC this September 24. The physical editions will be available starting October 15. Following the excellent Alan Wake 2 in October 2023, the Finnish studio is back with a new narrative-driven game focused on close-quarters combat.
Now, the gaming press has delivered its verdict on CONTROL Resonant. The game currently boasts a Metacritic average of 84% on PS5 (46 reviews), 84% on PC (23 reviews), and 82% on XBOX Series X (6 reviews). The OpenCritic score stands at 84% (46 reviews). These ratings are subject to change.
Those who have tried CONTROL Resonant highlight the story, a highly successful art direction, its breathtaking level design, and its high-quality audio. The combat is also very satisfying, and there are plenty of options for adjusting the difficulty.
As for the few flaws, the RPG elements end up being pretty basic, there are some camera issues, the PC version isn't optimized properly, and cutscenes feel generic.
