Miyazaki suggests FromSoftware will go back to single-player games after The Duskbloods

Following Elden Ring Nightreign in May 2025, FromSoftware will release with a second multiplayer game titled The Duskbloods later this year. This has some fans of the Japanese studio worried that single-player titles would become scarce.
In an interview with IGN, Hidetaka Miyazaki sought to allay these concerns, stating that this trend does not reflect the studio’s overall direction. The release of two consecutive multiplayer titles was simply a coincidence.
"On the topic of Nightreign, it's funny because there was never really any big plan that these two games [Nightreign and The Duskbloods] would both release next to each other. I mean, that's a different director, but both of those ideas just coincided with being multiplayer games. It's not necessarily some big reveal saying that this is the direction we plan to go moving forward. We still have a heavy focus on single-player content as well. This is just something that happened to work out the way it did."
Finally, Miyazaki described The Duskbloods as a sort of outlet for ideas that "didn’t really fit the context of a single-player game."
