Rockstar had implemented strict measures for its employees following the 2022 leak

Back in September 2022, Rockstar Toronto’s Slack server was hacked, leading to the leak of 91 videos from a GTA VI beta. Four years later, the company has once again fallen victim to a data leak, with clips from the game posted online.
However, Rockstar Games had implemented significant measures to prevent a repeat of the incident. Journalist Jason Schreier reveals that as early as 2024, the studio had established a policy requiring its employees to work five days a week in the office, something that caused a great deal of frustration among the staff.
In addition, access to internal work tools outside the company had been severely restricted. Today, current employees are reportedly even more frustrated, given that another major leak has just occurred. Team morale is said to be at an all-time low. Netflix is also reportedly sharing this frustration ahead of the wide release of GTA VI on August 27.
In an internal email, a senior Rockstar executive reportedly tried to reassure staff by explaining that players would still be excited to experience the game despite the leaks. Finally, Schreier emphasized that the development of GTA VI is not yet complete and that employees are expected to continue working on it until its launch on November 19, 2026.
