Lucasfilm Games may have ended its partnership with Aspyr on Star Wars games
, by Thibaut
Aspyr is a rather controversial studio in the video game industry. While it has released high-quality remasters, like the ones for the first six Tomb Raider games and the two Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver titles, the developer has also seen its share of failures.
This is reportedly what led Lucasfilm Games to end its partnership with the American firm. A rumor reported by Star Wars: Gaming suggests that Lucasfilm terminated its contract with the studio following the disastrous launch of STAR WARS: Battlefront Classic Collection in 2024 and the chaotic development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, which ended up being taken over by Saber Interactive.
The anonymous source adds that this partnership reportedly cost Lucasfilm $40 million. Remasters of Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds and other projects related to the Jedi Knight IP were consequently canceled.
Of course, all this information should be taken with a grain of salt, of course.
