id Software says it is still able to create games and support its id Tech engine

The recent layoffs at Xbox have taken a heavy toll on ZeniMax Media, the parent company that houses publisher Bethesda Softworks. As a result, id Software—known for the DOOM and Quake franchises—has lost no fewer than 136 employees.

While there may have been concerns that the company had become nothing more than an empty shell, that is apparently not the case. A statement released by the American studio has reassured fans.

In this message, id Software states that its team has returned to its original size during the development of DOOM (2016). The studio therefore claims it is still capable of developing its own games and maintaining its technologies, such as the id Tech engine. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a new Quake or an all-new DOOM revealed soon. Keep in mind that both of these franchises are on Microsoft’s priority list.
