Apple to take its case against Epic Games to the US Supreme Court
, by Thibaut
In August 2020, Epic Games launched a legal battle against Apple. The company responsible for Fortnite had chosen to bypass the Apple store in order to avoid the 30% fee applied by the platform. This decision led Apple to withdraw the game from its ecosystem, which obviously didn't sit well with Epic.
Three years later, Tim Cook's company seems to be the big winner in the case, since the court rejected most of Epic's accusations. However, a ruling related to this case now obliges Apple to allow developers to use payment methods other than the App Store, which would have an impact on the commissions received by the multinational.
That's why Apple has decided to take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court, with the aim of overturning this injunction.
