Marathon enjoys a rather succesful launch on Steam

The critical and commercial reception of Marathon is likely to garner some attention in the coming days. Some predict that Bungie's PvPvE FPS will suffer the same fate as Concord, while others believe in the studio's expertise to establish itself in such a competitive genre.

For now, the initial data reported by SteamDB is quite encouraging. Marathon has reached up to 88,337 concurrent players on Valve's platform. However, we are still a long way from the heavyweights of the genre such as Helldivers 2 (458,709 concurrent players) or ARC Raiders (481,966 simultaneous players).

As for Steam reviews, they are currently "very positive" on average, with 90% favorable reviews out of 5,654 online.
