Although Square Enix had initially stated the contrary, Final Fantasy XVI will in fact benefit from an update at launch. Indeed, producer Naoki Yoshida has said that a "day one" patch will be available for download on June 22.

The aim of this update is be to correct a few bugs and improve performance on scenes with many characters on screen.

New Game Plus is also available once the main story has been completed, giving access to two additional difficulty modes that will change the position of certain enemies and add improvements to the game's equipment.
