Eidos-Montreal, a studio best known for the Tomb Raider franchise and the Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy title, is now in trouble. After being bought by Embracer back in 2022, several of the studio's projects were canceled, including one set in the Lord of the Rings universe.
It is this project, which was a kind of card game with a story inspired by Telltale Games productions, that we're going o tal about. Some artwork has been unearthed in the portfolio of a former Eidos-Montréal artist. It includes drawings of the port city of Umbar and the Prancing Pony Inn. Development had not reached an advanced stage.
The studio is now reportedly working on an open-world action-adventure game designed using Unreal Engine.
