Astro Bot took approximately three years to develop

During the Archipel Caravan event, Nicolas Doucet, head of Team Asobi at PlayStation, discussed the development of Astro Bot. The PS5 exclusive won Game of the Year at the 2024 Game Awards.

The French creator revealed that it took the studio around three years to complete production of Astro Bot. In 2021, the developers spent a year creating prototypes. The actual development took place throughout 2022 and 2023. Finally, a phase of approximately six to nine months was devoted to bug fixing and fine-tuning the title before its release on September 6, 2024.

Initially, the team in charge of Astro Bot consisted of only about 30 people. It grew to 65 developers as the launch approached.
