Other devices are now compatible with the Xbox Mode from the ROG Xbox Ally thanks to modders

Windows Xbox Mode, presented by Microsoft as an exclusive feature of the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally, has already been made to run on other devices by the community.
This special configuration optimizes Windows for gaming by disabling several background processes, reducing memory usage by approximately 2 GB. On devices limited to 16 GB of RAM, such as certain non-Extreme Ryzen Z2 models, this can have a real impact on performance.
Thanks to Windows 11 Release Preview 25H2, enthusiasts have figured out how to enable this mode via registry settings and Velocity options. The result: the system boots directly into the Xbox app, with access to titles from the Microsoft Store as well as Steam, Battle.net, Epic Games, and other libraries. The interface also introduces a navigation bar designed for portable use, closer to the console experience.
It is still possible to return to the Windows desktop, although Microsoft recommends a touchscreen or external peripherals for this use. Tutorials are already making the rounds on Reddit, but they point out that handling errors can force a complete reinstallation of Windows.
