The success of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles could lead to a sequel

The remake of Final Fantasy Tactics will soon be available, with a release date of September 30 on consoles and PC. This new version will allow a whole new generation to discover this iconic title more than 28 years after its initial launch.
Kazutoyo Maehiro, the director of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, recently mentioned the possibility of a completely new title being released in the near future. Of course, Square Enix's approval of such a project will depend on the commercial success of the remake.
"If The Ivalice Chronicles can do well, that’s good for the fans, they can enjoy it. But, at the same time, it shows the business viability of the strategy RPG genre."
"So that could potentially open the door for doing something with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or A2, or maybe even sequels and new titles as well. I think I speak for everyone who’s worked on the original Final Fantasy Tactics, and is working on The Ivalice Chronicles as well — we’d really like to see that happen."
