The Tomb Raider Amazon TV series will finally see the light of day with Sophie Turner

Although it was widely expected to be canceled, the Tomb Raider TV series produced by Amazon Prime Video will finally go into production on January 19, 2026. This adaptation is being led by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who will be the creator, writer, and executive producer of the project.

Chad Hodge and Waller-Bridge will serve as co-showrunners. Jonathan van Tulleken will be the director and executive producer. In addition, Sophie Turner, who is well known for her roles as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones and Jean Grey in X-Men, will play Lara Croft. The British actress is thrilled to have landed the role.

"I am thrilled beyond measure, to be playing Lara Croft,” Turner added. “She’s such an iconic character, who means so much to so many – and I am giving everything I’ve got. They’re massive shoes to fill, following in the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their powerhouse performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands. I can’t wait for you all to see what we have cooking."

Of course, Crystal Dynamics will be involved in the production of the Tomb Raider series.
