Local split-screen co-op is technically feasible for Helldivers 2

With Helldivers 2, Arrowhead Game Studios took a gamble on co-op in a PvE game rather than giving in to the siren call of player competition. It's clear that it paid off, given how popular the title is.

Since cooperation is at the heart of the experience, some players have wondered whether a local split-screen multiplayer mode might be in the works. On the official Helldivers 2 Discord, Shams Jorjani, CEO of Arrowhead, replied that this feature is "technically feasible". However, he added that he's not sure players are eagerly awaiting this option. That's why the development team has placed this idea in the "keep an eye on" section of its priority list.

So, while local split-screen co-op isn't out of the question, it's not a priority for the studio at this time.
