Ubisoft believes the failure of Star Wars Outlaws is due to the license's low popularity

One month after its launch in August 2024, Star Wars Outlaws had only reached one million sales. Quite a slow start for a game based on an extremely famous franchise, yet Ubisoft has decided to blame the IP for this failure.
During a recent meeting with shareholders, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot initially confirmed the title's commercial failure. He then pointed the finger at Star Wars's supposed lack of popularity at the time of release.
*"For Star Wars Outlaws, we didn't reach our sales targets. The game suffered from a number of factors. First of all, it suffered from the fact that it came out at a time when the brand, the brand that it belongs to, was in a bit of troubled waters. The game had a few elements that still needed to be fine-tuned, and they were fine-tuned and debugged in the first few weeks, but this affected sales volumes.
"We've greatly improved the game by fixing it, and when it comes out on future consoles, like the Switch 2, this will be the new version of the game."
Star Wars Outlaws will be released on Switch 2 on September 4, 2025.
