The negative reception of Battlefield 2042 is said to be the reason behind the cancellation of Battlefield Mobile

We won't keep reliving the complicated launch of Battlefield 2042 forever. This exclusively multiplayer installment has been heavily criticized since its release in November 2021... to the extent that this very cautious reception from players has had significant consequences for the future of the franchise.
In an interview with Mobilegamer.biz, Alex Seropian, the co-founder of Bungie in 1991 and later of Industrial Toys in 2012, revealed that the poor reviews of Battlefield 2042 forced EA to reconsider the future of its FPS franchise. It was in this context that Battlefield Mobile was canceled. Before being buried last January, the game had even received an open beta in several countries in the Asian continent.
This cancellation also led to the closure of Industrial Toys and the layoff of approximately 120 people. The mobile version of Apex Legends also suffered the same fate.
