EA Sports FC 26 won't feature any microtransactions in South Korea thanks to a new law
, by Quentin
Electronic Arts has announced the absence of FC Points in South Korea for the upcoming EA Sports FC 26, preventing players from purchasing virtual currency or opening lootboxes. This decision follows a change in legislation imposing greater transparency on randomly obtained items.
Although EA Sports FC 26 will remain available for purchase in the country, features linked to the loot system will be deactivated. The South Korean legal framework now requires detailed publication of probabilities for each type of item obtainable via a lootbox, whether common players, rare cards or promotional content.
EA preferred to withdraw microtransactions rather than comply with this requirement for transparency on precise obtainment rates, particularly for ICON cards or rare items.
