The Unknown Worlds (Subnautica 2) founders are taking Krafton to court
, by Thibaut
What's been going on around Subnautica 2 this week has been baffling. Early access to the game has been pushed back to next year, and the co-founders of Unknown Worlds have left the company. Keep in mind that the studio was to be paid a $250 million bonus based on its financial results in 2025.
Now, journalist Jason Schreier reports that founders Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire along with former Unknown Worlds CEO Ted Gill have decided to file a lawsuit against publisher Krafton. Further information will follow in the coming days. In a press release, Krafton also accused the founders of being responsible for the problems encountered in the development of Subnautica 2.
The South Korean firm also referred to the aforementioned $250 million. It should be noted that 10% of this amount (i.e. $25 million) was to be distributed among 40 employees, with a different sum for each. The remaining 90% was reserved for the three former executives. The latter had decided to share this additional remuneration with the rest of the studio.
