300 Build A Rocket Boy employees have been threatened with getting fired

Build A Rocket Boy has gone through a wave of redundancies following the failed release of MindsEye, and there's another one coming. An e-mail written by Leslie Benzies and sent to the studio's 300 employees mentions these new departures.

The IGN site also states the fact that the teams at PlayFusion, a studio acquired by Build A Rocket Boy last year, received this famous email. This subsidiary, headed by Mark Gerhard, is working on an ultra-fast-action FPS called Ascendant. Its launch is scheduled for later in 2025.

In June, Build A Rocket Boy had already launched a restructuring procedure that resulted on 100 or more employees being let go within a 90-day period. Benzies addressed his teams on July 2, stating that the studio would "bounce back" and "relaunch" after the failure of MindsEye. He still blames "internal and external saboteurs" for the game's setbacks.

Finally, some voices within the studio question Build A Rocket Boy's ability to meet the post-launch roadmap of MindsEye. The multiplayer mode and all other planned elements may not be released on time.
