The Stop Killing Games petition tops 800,000 signatures

Gamers from the European Union countries are invited to sign a petition aimed at denouncing the practice of publishers of making certain games unplayable.
The Stop Killing Games campaign was made to denounce the programmed obsolescence practiced by publishers. When their servers are shut down after several years of activity, you can no longer start the games and become unusable, which is deemed “detrimental to customers" and which makes preservation almost impossible.
To date, the petition has gathered over 810,000 signatures out of the one million required for the European Citizens' Initiative to succeed. The initiative will then be referred to the European Commission, before leading to potential legislation. The latter will aim to "protect both the rights of consumers to keep the video games they have purchased and massively advance preservation efforts".
