The Ryzen Threadripper 9000 is releasing in July and will be 26% faster than series 7000

AMD has announced the full specifications and performance figures for its upcoming Ryzen Threadripper 9000 and PRO 9000 WX processors. These models, based on the Zen 5 architecture, will be released in July. They use the sTR5 socket and remain compatible with WRX90 and TRX50 motherboards via a BIOS update.

The TRX50 platform supports up to 64 cores with four DDR5 channels, while the WRX90 increases to 96 cores and eight DDR5 channels. The flagship PRO 9995WX model offers 96 cores, 192 threads, a base frequency of 2.5 GHz, and a boost of 5.4 GHz. The 9980X, intended for HEDT, features 64 cores and an identical boost. All models have a TDP of 350W.

Zen 5 brings an average 16% increase in IPC, native support for DDR5-6400, full 512-bit AVX-512 performance, reduced L3 latency, and improved L2 bandwidth.

AMD claims a performance gain of up to 26% over the Threadripper 7000 depending on the application. Compared to Intel's Xeon W9-3595X, the Threadripper 9000 delivers up to 145% performance improvements in media tasks, 118% in engineering, and up to 75% in software development. In AI, the gap varies between 28 and 34%.

The PRO models will initially be integrated into OEM systems, while the HEDT versions will be offered at retail. We don't know its pricing yet.
